This block speaks to the message that Bethany has proclaimed for 120 years “We are here to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to reach out in love to all people”.

The idea of Bethany was first organized by the Cushing Ladies Aid in October 1899.  The original church in Cushing on Bear Road was built in 1908-09 on land purchased for seven dollars!  The current church, on Bison Road, was built in 2008 and continues to be known as the “little church” with the big heart!

I like the way this pattern shows movement.  The colors just happened naturally by choosing yellow as my first color the other colors just followed.

This pattern was designed to represent shooting sports.  The center is a clay target with a chip off it.  “Arrows” cross and blocks are “shotgun shells & bullets”.

Katie Benson, with her brother and father, was involved in 4H Shooting sports and high school trap and skeet.

McGivern Park Campground
McGivern Park marks the end of the designated Crow Wing River Canoe Trail that winds its way through Wadena County. This quaint little park with its mix of hardwoods and pine is also the home of the Staples Sportsmen’s Club and Shooting Range. With its close proximity to the City of Staples, McGivern Park is used often for picnicking and other small gatherings.

The current barn stands on the site of a 100+ year old barn that was destroyed by fire on November 20, 2009.  The colors represent a red barn, orange flames and gray smoke.

The Streit Star barn quilt was hand painted by Tim and Kim in Lodi Wisconsin and given to us as a Christmas gift.  It looks down on our pig “Wilbur”.  We have only had this hobby farm since October 2013.
